Car Changes for 2018
A new part is being added to every car - the Halo – the cockpit
protection device designed to further improve driver safety in
the event of an accident, and in particular to deflect debris away
from the head.
The loop-hole in last year's rules which allowed the creation of
T-wings and Shark fins has been closed for 2018.
Trick suspension (set-ups with a small link in the front suspension connected to the upright) has been outlawed.
Engine oil burning allowed has been reduced from 0.9 liters of oil per 100 km to 0.6 liters of oil.
Tires have gained two new compounds, taking the number of slicks up to seven compounds in total.
The pink Hyper-Soft and orange Super-Hard join the range (the standard Hard tire has been shuffled to an ice
blue hue). All of the compounds have gone one step softer.
Rule Changes for 2018
No more grid girls
F1 has a new logo
Races will start 10 minutes later so as to
be more attune with broadcasters.
Instead of drivers accruing multiple grid
drops, if any driver earns more than 15
grid place penalties, they will have to start
from the very back of the grid.
A driver is only allowed three engines
during the season, instead of four.
Note: there is also one more race than
last year.
