Ferrari Challenge at IMS Winners

June 29 - The speedway hosted the fourth event of
the season for Ferrari Challenge North America,
less than one year after welcoming the series for
its 2024 season finale in September.

This year the races feature the 296 only and not
the 488.  There are two races for each series -
the Trofeo Pirelli and the Coppa Shell.  Each
series has two classes - pro and pro-am.

The two, 30-minute races on Saturday ran without
caution, and allowed the drivers to jockey for
position the entire race.

Two more races were held on Sunday.

All racing was on the IMS road course.

Spectators were allowed on Turn 2 viewing hills
for free, or could access paddock for $30.
How Andretti Cheated in Indy 500

June 15 - After the Indy 500 ended, the top 12
cars were put through post-race scrutineering.
Among them were the Andretti Global cars of
Marcus Ericsson, who finished 2nd, and Kyle
Kirkwood, who finished 6th.

Both cars were found in breach of technical rules.
They lost their placement in the race and were
moved to the back.  In addtion, each crew were
fined $100,000 and their team and competition
managers were suspended for the Detroit race.

Upon removing the right front EMS covers on the
two Andretti Global cars, inspectors found that
parts that must be supplied by Dallara were in fact
custom made Andretti parts.  That alone was
responsible for the penalties that were issued.
IndyCar stops at that point and does not bother
figuring out why the parts were changed or what
effect they would have had.

Andretti's change allowed them to tilt the covers
downward, changing the aerodynamics and
increasing the speed of the cars.
Illegal Spacers on No 28 Andretti Car
The PREMA car of Callum Ilott also failed to pass
post-race techinical inspection and suffered the
same consequences.  In their case, the front wing
did not meet the minimum endplate height and
location specifications.
