STATUS OF 2025 INDYCAR DRIVERS IN F1

PATO O'WARD -  MCLAREN F1 TEAM - READY TO RACE
O'Ward received his FIA Super License in 2024.  As a reserve driver for McLaren's F1
team, he can fill-in for a primary driver in a race if needed.  O'Ward participated in
several practice 1 sessions this year.

COLTON HERTA - CADILLAC F1 TEAM - NEEDS 5 POINTS
Cadillac F1 make their debut in 2026 and has hired Colton Herta as a test driver.
Herta earned 35 FIA points for his IndyCar finishes the past 3 years.
He needs 5 more points to reach a Super License so he can race in F1.
Until then, he can only participate in selected F1 practice sessions.
Herta will receive 1 point for any F1 practice session he participates in.

Herta is racing in Formula 2 next year and if he finishes the season in the top 8,
he will gain enough points for a Super License.

12/7 - After a poor start to the Formula 1 season, Max Verstappen came
storming back, chasing the two McLaren drivers for the season championship.
Today, Verstappen won the final race of the season, but Lando Norris finished
3rd and won the Drivers Championship by a mere two points!
New IndyCar Officiating Group

12/12 - Beginning next season, IndyCar officiating will be performed by an independent
body.  This group will determine when rules are broken and the penalties imposed on teams
or drivers.

This action was made to ensure confidence among teams and fans that there was no
favoritism being shown to Team Penske, as Penske Entertainment owns and controls both
the IndyCar series and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

In the past two season,  Team Penske has incurred a number of infractions and they were
dealt with in a harsh manner, leaving no room for any competitor to cry foul.  None the less,
it has been decided it would be best if there were no possibility of favoritism or collusion in
the future.

This new body is called INDYCAR Officiating Inc.  This completely independent and non
profit organization will be governed by three board directors.

The three directors selected are
Ray Evernham and Raj Nair (chosen by IndyCar teams)
and Ronan Morgan (chosen by the F.I.A.)

Those three
men will establish its annual budget and choose a Managing Director of
Officiating (MDO).

IndyCar team owner Chip Ganassi said, “This was a thorough process, and I am confident
in the independent officiating board that has been elected by the team ownership in our
sport.”
Nair was responsible for all Ford Motorsports programs from 2012-17.
Evernham was a Nascar crew chief and team owner.
Morgan has global motorsport experience as a senior official, promoter, organizer and competitor.
