Nascar is returning to the Chase championship format, replacing the elimination-style
playoffs that has been in place since 2014. The top 16 drivers based on points, will now
advance to a 10-race Chase for the championship.
Cars entering the garage for repairs during a race forfeit eligibility for the Fastest Lap
bonus point. Also, laps only count if during green-flag racing condidions.
Race win bonus has increased from 40 to 55 points.
Horsepower at short tracks has increased from 670 to 750.
A-post flaps are now mandatory at all tracks. These flaps activate in spins to elevate the
nose, reducing rollover propensity and wall impacts.
