Indycar Silly Season Kicks Off
Sept 3 - The IndyCar silly season kicked off this week with these announcements:
1. Rinus Veekay has decided to leave Dale Coyne Racing. He has not said what
his plans are yet.
2. Will Power is leaving Team Penske.
3. Colton Herta is becoming test driver for the new Cadillac F1 team, leaving
IndyCar and will begin searching for a ride in Formula 2.
4. Power will be replacing Herta in the No. 26 at Andretti Global.
That got me thinking about Herta's IndyCar record. His rookie year was 2019.
The other 3 rookies that year are still relevant today.
The chart below compares their wins and poles.
The 2019 INDYCAR ROOKIES
Notes:
* Herta raced for Harding in 2019, before moving to Andretti.
* O'Ward only competed in 7 races in 2019 for Carlin Racing, before moving to McLaren.
* Ferrucci raced for Dale Coyne 2019-2020, then competed in just 5 races in 2021 for RLL,
and just 3 races in 2022 for 3 different teams, before joining AJ Foyt full-time in 2023.
* Rosenqvist raced for CGR in 2019-2020 and McLaren 2021-2023, before joining MSR.
Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month
Sept 4 - The IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car series
returns to the Indy Speedway Sept 19-21 for th six-
hour Battle on the Bricks.
The IMSA teams are raising money for two charities
that provide help to children with cancer.
Each team has a child mascot who's name will be on
the race cars and in the spotters guide. In addition
they will be hosting kids at the track, incorporating
them into their hero cards, sharing video messages
during the event and providing team gear. Some of
the pairings were based on the child's favorite color,
number, type of car or hometown.

Money raised will be split among the Austin Hatcher Foundation and Camp Boggy
Creek, helping provide children with therapy, resources and joyful experiences.
Austin Hatcher Foundation - They help eliminate the negative side effects of pediatric
cancer from diagnosis into survivorship. The Foundation not only treats the child
suffering from diagnosis but the entire family that has been negatively impacted.
Camp Boggy Creek - Offers a chance for sick children to experience camp and
focuses on them having fun and making friendships, all while receiving top-tier
medical care. Located on a 232-acre site in Eustis, FLA.
9/17- David Malukas is leaving AJ Foyt Racing to drive for Team Penske next year.

Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America - RACE 1 (4 - 4:50 pm)
Wayne Taylor Racing led the way in a pair of classes in an eventful opening race of the
doubleheader weekend for Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America competitors at the
Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The duo of Danny Formal and Hampus Ericsson won the Pro class and Overall aboard the No.
1 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini. Their sister car, No 69, finished 2nd. The Pro race was
largely an uneventful affair up front with Formal and Ericsson leading 30 of the 32 laps from pole,
only losing the lead during the mandatory pit stop sequence.
Trent Hindman and Jackson Lee won the ProAm class aboard the No. 69 Wayne Taylor
Racing. Hindman enjoyed a clean start in his No. 69 WTR Huracán and handed over to Lee, who
brought the car home to the finish in his home race in front of a host of longtime friends and
family. “I grew up 15 minutes from here. I’ve been to every Indianapolis 500 since 2010. It’s
been my dream to win here forever,” Lee said. “So, this means so much to me,
The ProAm race was nothing short of wild from the start. Jason Hart, in the No. 67 TR3 Racing
Huracán was hit on the start, which damaged the right-front quarter panel. Hart persisted,
staying out as long as possible within the pit stop window, before handing off to Conrad Geis.
The race came unglued as Geis veered left on the front straight to avoid hitting Andy Lee’s No.
14 Flying Lizard Motorsports Huracán into Turn 1. That wall contact eventually led to a left front
puncture and a retirement.
Mateo Siderman scored his first Am win aboard the No. 63 TR3 Racing Lamborghini. “We’ve
had good speed all year, Siderman said. "but we just haven’t done the right things on track during
qualifying. We really got into our stride and put it all together here. We got a good qualifying
position and we just executed.”
Nick Groat inched closer to repeating his LB Cup title in the No. 57 ONE Motorsports Huracán,
winning the LB cup class - his sixth win of the year.
WeatherTech Sportscar Championship Series - Practice 1 (11:15 - 12:45 pm)
It was a hot, sunny day as temps neared 90 degrees. There are 53 entries and the track was
crowded.
Acura Meyer Shank Racing driver Tom Blomqvist had the fastest time in the GTP class with a
lap speed of 115.214 mph on the IMS road course in the No. 60. (The fastest speed during
IndyCar practice 1 on the course last May was 125.472 mph.)
Mikkel Jensen , in the No. 11 TDS Racing ORECA was the fastest LMP2 competitor with a time
just 1.2 seconds off Blomqvist’s fastest overall lap. (113.431 mph)
Valentin Hasse-Clot emerged fastest not only in his GTD class, but the GTD Pro class as well!
Driving in van der Steur Racing’s No. 19 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, he did a lap at 104.029
mph.
David Rigon had the fastest speed in the GTD Pro class in the No. 81 DragonSpeed Ferrari
296 GT3 with a lap at 104.009 mph.

Porsche Carrera Cup North America -
Race 1 (3 - 3:40 pm)
Zachary Vanier grabbed the lead on the opening
lap, passing Aaron Jeansonne in the opening
turns, and held on through two late-race restarts
to score his second Pro class victory this season.
The biggest drama struck on lap 1, not only
resulting in the first yellow flag from the mid-pack,
but it also led to Vanier’s race-winning pass.
Pro-Am title rivals JP Martinex and Alan Metni
were caught up in the caution which allowed
Patrick Mulcahv to take the lead. He held on till
the end to capture his first win in the class.
Scott Blind won the Solairus Aviation Masters
class from pole, driving for Ruckus Racing.

Porsche Carrera Cup North America - Race 2 (11:10 - 11:50 am)
PRO CLASS
Aaron Jeansonne captured victory, marking the seventh different race winner
this season in Porsche Carrera Cup North America — the most ever in a single
year.
The Carrera Cup rookie driver entered the weekend at the Brickyard without a
top-three in the Pro class, but following two pole positions, scored his first
podium on Friday en route to his first win in Race 2.
Ryan Yardley finished runner-up for the second day in a row, while Zachary
Vanier, winner of yesterday’s race, executed an impressive start at the drop of
the green flag to go from sixth to third by the race’s end.
PRO-AM CLASS
James Sofronas.found himself in the lead after polesitter Alan Metni was
issued an incident responsibility penalty. That dropped Metni to 6th place.
Rookie driver JP Martinez finished 2nd, a welcome result as he was racing a
backup car after crashing in race 1. Marco Cirone completed the podium.
MASTERS CLASS
In the Masters class, Saturday was doubly meaningful for Scott Blind, as not
only did he complete another weekend sweep with a Race 2 victory, but he also
was provisionally scored as the 2025 Masters champion. Richard Edge
matched his season-best performance by finishing second, just ahead of
Michael Auriemma in third.

Michelin Pilot Challenge Race (12:40 - 2:40 pm)
Robert Noaker was out front for most of the final 40 minutes in his and co-driver
Cameron McLeod’s first race with the Multimatic-built Ford Mustang with team Kohr
Motorsports.
With 24 minutes to go, Pole sitter Jan Heylen crashed from 4th in the No. 28 RS1
Porsche 718 Caymen, making contact with Jeff Westphal in the No. 39 Peregrine
Racing BMW M4. Heylen lost a lap and ended up finishing 19th. Heylen's title rival,
Jenson Altzman, managed to finish 7th in the No. 13 Mustang GT4 after having to
serve a drive-through penalty for a pit stop infraction.
Noaker initially held off a hard-charging pair of McLarens in the closing stages of the
two-hour contest. Michael Cooper, in the No. 44 McLaren Artura GT4, passed
Jesse Lazare's McLaren for 2nd with four minutes to go. Noaker, struggling on
worn tires, was unable to keep the two McLarens behind him and he finished 3rd.
Cooper won the race for Ibiza Farm Motorsports with co-driver Moisey Uretsky.
Lazare finished 2nd in the No. 21 Motorsports In Action McLaren Artura along with
co-driver Alexandra Hainer.
The No. 71 Aston Martn of Robin Liddell finished 4th after a late-race pass on
Westphal, who finished 5th.
Heylen and co-driver Luca Mars now hold a 100-point lead over Westphal and Sean
McAlister, who moved into second, with Altzman dropping to third, 20 points further
behind.
TCR class honors went to the No. 99 Leon VZ of Tyler Gonzalez and Eric Powell,
in a stunning comeback drive from the class pole-sitting entry. The team had an
early drive-through penalty dropping to 16th at the time. The team then benefited
from a series of late-race yellows to move back up the running order.
Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America - RACE 2 (5:10 - 6 pm)
Hampus Ericsson started the No. 1 WTR Huracán and handed off to Danny Formal
for the finish. For a second straight day, the leading WTR entries in both Pro and
ProAm finished 1-2 overall.
Jaden Conwright and Scott Huffaker in their No. 22 Huracán and Nick Persing and
Giano Taurino in the No. 8 completed the Pro podium, as postrace time penalties
were assessed to the No. 4 and No. 29 after late-race contact.
Trent Hindman and Jackson Lee in the No. 69 won their third ProAm race in the last
four races.
Paul Nemschoff and Marc Miller finished 2nd for the second straight day in the No.
41 ahead of Joel Miller and Frank Szczesniak in the No. 88.
As on Friday, neither of the top two in the ProAm championship – Trinka and
Karlinskas and Geis and Hart – finished on the podium.
The Am class continued the theme of repeats with Siderman completing a weekend
sweep for TR3 Racing. The championship-leading No. 10 of Graham Doyle and
Glenn McGee finished 2nd for the second day in a row.
The LB Cup, like Pro, featured an identical podium to Friday. Nick Groat again led
home Rocky T. Bolduc and Christopher Tasca. The LB Cup has been unofficially
wrapped in Groat’s favor. With the double win in Indianapolis, he has an unofficial 35-
point lead with a maximum of 32 points remaining. This would ensure a second straight
LB Cup title for him.

WeatherTech Sportscar Championship Qualifying (3:15 - 4:45 pm)
Tom Blomqvist and co-driver Colin Braun, led the opening practice Friday and the
pre-qualifying practice this morning in the No. 60 Meyer Shank Acura ARX-06
prototype. They continued their domination by winning the overall and GTP class
pole for Sunday's Battle on the Bricks, turning a top lap of 1 minute, 14.569
seconds.
However, in post-qualifying technical inspection, it was discovered that the No. 60
car failed to comply within LMDh bodywork tolerances. With the penalty, it will lose
its qualifying times and drop to the rear of the GTP class for Sunday’s race!
Jack Aitken, who qualified 2nd in the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac, inherited the pole.
The next two spots went to Wayne Taylor Racing and their Cadillacs.
They are followed by the championship-leading No. 6 Porsche Penske of Mathieu
Jaminet and Matt Campbell, with the second Acura – the No. 93 Acura ARX-06 of
Renger van der Zande, Nick Yelloly and Kaku Ohta – completing the top five.
The reigning winners, the No. 24 BMW M Team RLL entry, qualified eighth in the
12-car GTP field at 1:15.133 with Dries Vanthoor behind the wheel.
Nick Boulle led a sweep of the first two qualifying spots in the LMP2 class by
United Autosports USA. He was quickest at 1:17.846 in the team’s No. 2 ORECA
LMP2 07, followed by Daniel Goldburg at 1:18.222 in the team’s No. 22 prototype.
Dan Harper took the top qualifying spot in the GTD PRO class for Paul Miller
Racing, stopping the clocks at 1:23.259 in the team’s No. 48 BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
Casper Stevenson won the pole in the GTD class with a best lap of 1:23.088 in
the No. 27 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo. That time was
quicker than the pole for the factory-supported GTD PRO class.

BATTLE ON THE BRICKS RACE REPORT
9/23 - Dale Coyne Racing is entering into a technical partnership with Andretti Global.
GTP
The No. 31 Whelen Cadillac (drivers Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber and Frederik Vesti) led
the race and the GTP class after each of the six hours of this endurance race. Victory
was anything but easy though, as two full-course caution periods in the last 75 minutes
of the race forced Aitken to stand on the gas on restarts and navigate lapped traffic as
the clock wound down.
The first of the last two full-course yellows came with one hour, 15 minutes to go when
the hood flew off the No. 70 Inception Racing Ferrari that ended up winning the GTD
class. Aitken held off the No. 25 BMW M Team RLL car on the restart with an hour to
go and expanded his lead to 1.606 seconds with 30 minutes to go.
With 18 minutes remaining, Tom Blomqvist had pushed the No. 60 Acura Meyer Shank
Racing Acura ARX-06 to second place behind Aitken.
Ricky Taylor then passed Blomqvist with 13 minutes remaining in the No. 10 Wayne
Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R for second place but probably needed a late caution
to finish with his remaining fuel.
Taylor got that full-course caution with nine minutes left. The No. 04 Crowdstrike Racing
LMP2 car driven by Toby Sowery spun and backed hard into the wall after apparent
contact from Ben Hanley.
Debris from the incident was cleaned just in time for a two-lap trophy dash to the
checkered flag. Aitken pulled away from Taylor on the restart and was never
threatened, finishing .988 of a second ahead in a 1-2 result for Cadillac. Blomqvist and
Colin Braun settled for third, 1.952 seconds behind the winners.
The Whelen team earned its first victory since capturing the 12 Hours of Sebring in
March 2023, and this was the first victory of the season for Cadillac, which fields three
cars in the class.
LMP2
In LMP2, the No. 11 TDS Racing team (drivers Mikkel Jensen, Hunter McElrea, Steven
Thomas) earned a class victory for the third consecutive year at this event. The team
finished .714 of a second ahead of the No. 43 Inter Europol Competition car.
Jensen drove the car to the checkered in the final stint. “Very tense out there,” Jensen
said. “We did the perfect race. No mistakes. Then you get a yellow at the end. Nerve-
wracking finish, but you’ve got do a good restart and keep the car clean. It’s not easy to
stay clear.”
No. 64 Ford Multimatic Motorsports Ford Mustang GT3 (Sebastian Priaulx, Mike
Rockenfeller) in GT Daytona Pro and the No. 70 Inception Racing Ferrari 296 GT3
(Brendan Iribe, Ollie Millroy, Frederik Schandorff) in GT Daytona.

GTD PRO
In the factory-backed GTD PRO class, Sebastian Priaulx drove the No. 64 Ford
Multimatic Motorsports Mustang GT3, shared with Mike Rockenfeller, to victory by .594
of a second over the No. 81 DragonSpeed Ferrari 296 GT3 of Albert Costa and David
Rigon.
GTD
Arguably the day’s most unexpected win came in GTD, where Ollie Milroy, Brendan Iribe
and Frederik Schandorff brought the No. 70 Inception Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 from 15th
on the grid to victory lane. earning its first IMSA class victory despite losing its hood late
in the race. Schandorff drove the Ferrari to victory over the No. 120 Wright Motorsports
Porsche shared by Adam Adelson, Tom Sargent and Elliott Skeer by 2.276 seconds.
