Article Index
Jan 14 - IndyCar has switched broadcasters for 2025, moving from NBC to Fox.
Fox has retained announcers James Hinchcliffe and Townsend Bell.  They have
replaced Leigh Diffey with Will Buxton, who was an ESPN F1 announcer.
Jan 10 - The new PREMA team has hired Romain Grosjean in a reserve driver role.
Normally, IndyCar has not had extra drivers,  while Formula 1 has retained extra
drivers for  reserve, testing and development roles.
Jan 3 - McLaren bought 75% of Schmidt Peterson Racing in 2021 when they
entered IndyCar.  Sam Schmidt and Ric Peterson have now departed the team
as McLaren now own 100%.
Jan 5 - Helio Castroneves has been hired by Trackhouse Racing to race in the
Daytona 500.  He will need to either qualify during single-car qualifying or during

New IndyCar Die-cast Company

IndyCar has transferred the right to make die-
cast models from Greenlight Collectibles to IXO
Models beginning in 2025.  Like Greenlight, the
cars will be made in both 1:64 (3") and 1:18
(10.5") scales.

Collectors are wondering what this change may
bring to future die-cast IndyCar models.

Quality and price wise, IXO Models are similar to
Bburago and Greenlight Collectibles
With prices at $10 for 1:64-scale and $80 for 1:18-scale, those three companies are at the
upper-lower end of the die-cast collector market. Mid-tier manufacturers, such as Minichamps,
Tecnomodel, Spark and AutoArt, often sell 1:18-scale models in the $200-$300 range.
However, it doesn't make much sense to create expensive IndyCar models, as they are
often bought as souvenirs, if not toys.  Also, the cars are all the same physically and differ
only in paint scheme.  It is doubtful collectors would want 27 expensive versions of the exact
same car in 27 liveries.

IXO Models have never made cars as small as 1/64-scale, so this will be a new experience for
them.

The 2025 die-cast IndyCar models should have the same quality as before.  I suspect the new
cars will have a slightly cheaper cost and IndyCar will keep the price the same.
Popular Die-Cast Model Scales
Greenlight has been producing IndyCar models
since it's creation in Indianapolis in 2002.  The
company was first sold in 2013 and profits soon
tripled.  In late 2022, the company was sold to
Hong Kong-based Waltersons Industries Group.

IXO Models is part of Premium & Collectibles
Trading company, created in China in 2000.
