Sept 13 - Sebastian Wheldon, 17, finished 2nd in
the Formula Regional European Championship
(FREC) racing for MP Motorsport with 3 wins and 6
poles. He also finished 5th in the Formula Regional
Middle East Trophy series.
He raced in Europe last year too, driving for PREMA
across four junior formula series. He finished 3rd in
the Complete Italian F4 Championship with 6 wins
and 7 poles.
In 2024, Sebastian raced in America, finishing 3rd in
the USF Junior series.
He is the eldest son of 2-time Indy 500 winner Dan
Wheldon.
His younger brother, Oliver Wheldon, is racing in
the USF 2000 Championship. He races for VRD
Racing and won both races at Portland Int'l
Raceway. He is currently 5th in points - the highest
placed rookie.

Sebastian Wheldon Is Racing In Europe
9/13 - The new Madring Circuit in Madrid Spain debuted with a Formula 1 race.
It features the longest banked corner for the series. It will replace the Barcelona
Circuit for the F1 Spanish GP, which has hosted the race since 1991.

9/10 - IndyCar tested the new 2028 IR-28 chassis for the first time on an oval - the
2.5-mile Indy Motor Speedway. Alex Rossi put the car through its paces yesterday
and Alex Palou today. These same drivers tested the car on the IMS road course
last month.

BATTLE ON THE BRICKS CLASS WINNERS
The 4th Battle on the Bricks
Sept 17 - The Battle on the Bricks race at IMS returns for its fourth year. The race will
features all four classes of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship series, totalling
44 cars, which will race on the road course circuit on Sunday.
While the race was 6 hours long the past two years, this year it returns to its 2-hour and
40-minute format. Consequently, each team will field just two drivers per car instead of three.
Other IMSA series will also be competing. The Porsche Carrera Cup, Lamborghini Trofeo
and the Michelin Pilot Challenge all return. In addition, the Mazda MX-5 Cup series will race.
The Michelin Pilot Challenge will have just one race - on Saturdy. The other three series will
hold a race on Saturday and a race on Sunday.
IndyCar driver Christian Rasmussen will compete in the Battle on the Bricks in the LMP2
class for Era Motorsport. Newly crowned Indy NXT champion, Nikita Johnson, will be
racing in the GTD PRO class for RLL Team McLaren.

Michelin Pilot Challenge Race
The Ibiza Farm Motorsport duo of Moisey Uretsky and Michael Cooper kissed the bricks for
the second straight year after Cooper made a full-contact pass for victory on the final lap to
win overall and Grand Sport (GS) class honors in the two-hour race for the Michelin Pilot
Challenge series.
Cooper drove the No. 44 McLaren Artura GT4 under the No. 60 Kohr Motorsports Ford
Mustang GT4 of Michael Skeen in Turn 7 on the final lap, which was a one-lap race for the win
after a late full-course yellow. Cooper and Skeen made side-to-side contact during the decisive
pass, with light damage to both cars.
The one-lap dash to the checkered was set up when leader Gabby Chaves, an IndyCar
veteran, ran out of fuel with seven minutes remaining while trying to stretch his mileage to the
finish in the No. 43 Andretti Performance Porsche 718 GT4 RS CS that he shares with Jarett
Andretti, son of John Andretti. Chaves’ car stopped adjacent to the track in a vulnerable
position, triggering the final full-course caution of the race.
Spanish manufacturer Seat also repeated as a winner at IMS with a victory by Tyler Gonzalez
and Steven Clemons in the TCR class. Gonzalez drove to victory in the No. 99 Victor

Sheldon van der Linde turned growing frustration to elation with a dramatic late pass to lead
the BMW M Team WRT to overall and GTP class victory Sunday in the Battle on the Bricks at
Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
van der Linde drove the No. 24 BMW M Hybrid V8 that he shared with Dries Vanthoor under
the No. 31 Cadillac Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R of Earl Bamber entering Turn 12 on the
14-turn, 2.439-mile road course and pulled away to win the two-hour, 40-minute IMSA
WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race by 2.926 seconds.
Quick work by the WRT crew helped van der Linde vault to second behind Bamber on the final
pit stop with 57 minutes to go, under full-course caution. After the restart with 48 minutes
remaining, van der Linde stalked Bamber as both cars navigated slower traffic from the other
three classes competing simultaneously on track with the premier-class GTP cars.
With 27 minutes remaining, Bamber led by 1.282 seconds. But he was slowed by traffic over
the next lap, letting van der Linde close to within .287 of a second. But van der Linde then was
stuck in a thicket of traffic, letting Bamber extend his lead to 1.516 seconds with 21 minutes left.
A preview of thrills to come came with seven minutes, 10 seconds to go when van der Linde
caught Bamber, and the two prototypes went side by side in Turns 7 and 8 in a stirring joust for
the lead. Bamber kept the top spot – but not for long.
With about five minutes, 30 seconds left, Bamber and van der Linde approached the Ford
Mustang driven by Dennis Olsen, running second in the GTD PRO class. Bamber eased to the
left to clear Olsen on the approach to Turn 12, but at the same time, van der Linde darted to
the right – with both prototypes surrounding Olsen’s car – and dove to the inside to take a lead
he wouldn’t surrender.

“But at the same time, I had this prototype inside and didn’t know what to do. I tried to stay
in the middle as good as I could. But, yeah, anyway, we got the win.”

INDY NXT New Driver Evaluations
Sept 21 - INDY NXT held their annual New Driver Evaluation Test today on the road
course at the Indy Speedway.
The New Driver Evaluation is designed specifically for drivers who have never
competed in an INDY NXT car but have completed a full season in one of the world’s
approved feeder championships. The test gives accomplished young drivers their first
experience with INDY NXT machinery while allowing teams to evaluate potential
candidates for future full-season rides.
The test has become an important part of the INDY NXT offseason calendar, bringing
drivers from premier development series around the world into the series’ environment.
Last year’s evaluation at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Illinois, featured four FIA
Formula 2 veterans, along with champions and race winners from several top junior
formula championships. Six of the 12 drivers who participated ultimately secured full-
season seats for the 2026 INDY NXT by Firestone season.
The evaluation also provides teams with an early opportunity to identify potential talent
before the official offseason testing program begins.
Here is a list of this year's drivers:

Sept 04 - IndyCar president Doug Boles sent a letter to race teams about new
rules concerning driver eligibility for 2027.
The purpose of these rules Is to help insure new drivers are qualified to race at
the IndyCar level. In addition, they provide a more detailed guide for drivers
planning to one day race in IndyCar.
Previously, any driver who competed in INDY NXT was eligible, but now, most
of those drivers will first have to be evaluated by IndyCar.
IndyCar also intends to keep current INDYCAR drivers under scrutiny and
eligibility can be reassessed if a driver fails to demonstrate the level of
competitiveness expected in IndyCar!

a race will require a comprehensive review, and acceptance will be at
INDYCARs discretion.

Super Formula, Nascar Cup, IMSA GTP, WEC Hypercar or other professional
championships that IndyCar determines to be equivalent to or more difficult

participation in a higher-level series alone will not guarantee eligibility.
