IndyCar's Washington DC Race Details
3/10 - More details were released on the Freedom 250 IndyCar race that will
be held on the streets of Washington D.C. as part of a celebration of the
USA's 250th birthday.
This is the first auto race ever held in the nation's capital.
The street circuit is 1.66 miles long and only has 7 turns, so it is on the small
and simple side. However, it will be a picturesque course as the front stretch
runs along Pennsylvania Avenue, framed by the Washington Monument and
the U.S. Capitol. The IndyCar field will also race by the Smithsonian National
Air and Space Museum, the National Gallery of Art and the National Archives.
TRACK LAYOUT MAP
The race is scheduled for Aug. 22–23, 2026, and will offer free open public
access.
Fans will be able to enjoy various concession options for food and beverage,
on-track action displayed on numerous big screens, music and other
entertainment on the Main Stage.
There will be a "fan activation area" on the National Mall between 12th Street
and 7th Street. This may be where people get or "activate" the free tickets.
Ticketed fans will be able to experience the race from multiple standing
locations inside the track.
There is seating inside the track as well, but tickets are limited.
Spectators are encouraged to sign up for alerts and additional details at
