Grand Prix of Indianapolis Day 2 - IndyCar Qualifying Friday May 9, 2014
Even though rain was forecast for today, BW came over and I drove us to the track.
They wouldn't let us enter with our car at any gate but the North 40 and we parked in the turn 3 infield.
Obvious changes have occurred at the north end, where the road course has been modified. Mainly the cutoff of the Hulman Blvd occurs close to the entrance to the infield.
A new stand has been erected there called the Corner 5 Stand and the viewing hill has been extended northward to meet up against this stand.
I bought a bloody mary. They used to be good at the track, but his one was not. It did not taste like it had any vodka in it. Also it cost $8 instead of $5. Later I tried a margarita and it was equally bad. They wanted $9 for a hamburger! Instead I bought a pulled pork bbq sandwich for $8. It was tiny and terrible. I made up my mind to bring my own food and drink tomorrow for the race.
BW and I wandered along the inside of the road course as the various series qualified or raced.
US F2000, Pro Mazda and Indy Lights are all part fo the ladder leading to IndyCar.
It began to raining and luckily I had a poncho packed.
We wandered back north to the Corner 5 stand to watch IndyCar qualifying.
