Some IndyCar drivers ran the same main sponsor on the side of their car at every

Sometimes a main sponsor gets used by a team on multiple cars.

Sometimes a car has no main sponsor and the team leaves the sidepod blank, or
puts their own logo on it.  These latter situations are not counted in the list below.

The following shows the breakdown of main sponsors per Team and per Car #.

IndyCar Starts Team Charter System

Sep 24 - IndyCar announced a franchise-like
"charter system" by giving team owners a tangible
asset designed to promote the series' health.

While the Penske organization will retain
permanent ownership of the charters, Up to 3
charters, out of a total of 25, will be given to each
team currently in the series, which they can sell if
need be.

Incidentally, in the sporting regulations, IndyCar is
limiting the number of entrants allowed at races to
27.  Teams with charters will have guaranteed
starting spots at all IndyCar races, except for the
Indy 500.

Also, only charter teams will participate in the
IndyCar Leaders Circle program.  That program
currently awards $1 million to teams for each of
their cars which finished in the top 22 of points for
that IndyCar series season.  It is capped at 3
awards per team as well.
Most teams were pleased with the new charter
system, which is essentially a franchise tag that
gives team owners something of value beyond
cars, parts and pieces.  (NASCAR introduced a
charter system in 2016 and charters have become
worth millions of dollars.)

Arrow McLaren CEO
Zak Brown complained
that," there’s no revenue sharing model. (And at)
Indy, I don’t have a guaranteed spot."  He thinks
the only benefit is if the unusual situation arose
where there were more than 27 cars at an event
and one of his cars failed to qualify, the car would
still get to race.

Ten teams signed the charter system, which will
run through 2031.

Andretti Global, Arrow McLaren, Ganassi, Rahal
Letterman Lanigan and Team Penske all received
three charters. AJ Foyt Enterprises, Dale Coyne
Racing, Ed Carpenter Racing, Juncos Hollinger
Racing and MSR received two charters each.
Michael Andretti Loses His Race Team

Sep 28 - According to Racer magazine -
"Daniel Towriss, CEO of the Group 1001 insurance and financial services company based in
Zionsville, Indiana, and primary investor of Andretti Global, has taken control of the business.

Along with its three-car IndyCar team that features primary sponsorship with Gainbridge on
Colton Herta’s No. 26 Honda and Delaware Life, another Group 1001 property, on Marcus
Ericsson’s No. 28 Honda, Andretti/Towriss also purchased Wayne Taylor Racing’s two-car
IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship team in 2023, maintains a four-car Indy NXT
program that won the championship in 2024, has an ongoing effort to launch a two-car F1
effort with General Motors through its Cadillac brand, and is building a vast new base in
Indiana as a result of Towriss’s investment."
Towriss entered IndyCar in 2018 as the sponsor of driver Zach Veach with Group 1001 and
its Gainbridge property represented on the No. 26 Andretti Autosport Honda. The three-year
deal ended prematurely for Veach, but Andretti retained Group 1001/Gainbridge relationship
and funding, and by 2021, Andretti and Towriss were actively searching for a Formula 1 team
to purchase.

USAC Midget Race At IMS

Sep 30 - The 6th Annual BC39 National Midget race was held on the
1/5-mile dirt oval located in Turn 3 of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
this past weekend.

The racing began Thursday, but the next two scheduled days had to be

combined and moved to Sunday due to rain from hurricane Helene.

Chase McDermand won the feature race on Thursday.  On Sunday
night, he looked likely to win the BC39 feature race too, as he led most
of the race
.  But with just 2 laps to go, Cannon McIntosh was able to
get by and take the win, which payed out a $20,000 prize.
